HISTORY: Danny ‘Babu” Bernier is known for his stand up comedian persona. The star powered wild man behind the wheel has virtually no fear when it comes to angle, speed and all out aggressiveness. Considered a virgin to drifting, Babu’s skills have improved after countless burnt tires, and to this date will give any competitor a run for their money. Babu lives for the crowd’s reaction. Babu is a media sensation in Quebec on the French equivalent of MTV – Musique Plus. Don’t think that’s relevant? Well, some big ticket bands have started there: Alexis on Fire, Simple Plan, Arcade Fire, City and Colour and every soccer mom’s favorite Celine Dion. So Babu not only pulls in the crowds but knows how to work them. His weapon of choice is a 4.6L mid-90s Mustang which Babu is still mastering. For him it is all about the entertainment factor of which he does so well!!!

RIDE: Nissan 240sx

STANDINGS: 2nd

HISTORY: Haig Kanadjian can often be found working hard under the hood of a car, however his preferred office is behind the wheel careening sideways in full drift. Drifting has been a passion of Haig’s, and through the years has proven his bullet proof drift builds last and are often podium supported. Fortunately, drift fans can witness Haig’s insane and balls out drifting style in the current Drift Mania Canadian Championships. Haig’s presence in drifting brings more than just a technical expertise and understanding to the sport, it is his approachable persona that is truly sportsmanlike. Haig’s reputation in drifting, and in mechanics on and off the track exceeds many expectations and as a result many young and aspiring drifters see him as a role model. Look for the ‘Kanadjian one’ to be kicking it sideways throwing up some serious smoke in the future.

RIDE: Infinity G35

STANDINGS: 3rd

HISTORY: Known to some drifting gurus as the godfather of drift, Santos started the drift movement in Quebec many years ago in his street legal 240sx. His knowledge of drifting and what it takes to participate competitively has been proven time and time again with many podium finishes in the Drift Mania Canadian Championship series over the years. Known for his aggressive style and insane early initiations, Marco’s risk taking drifting experience is unparalleled and often idolized. His sportsmanship in drifting is not only respected among other drivers but the fans as well. He strives to put on a show, as if he was the spectator himself. Marco recently had the honor and opportunity to represent Canada at the Red Bull Drifting World Championships at Long Beach, California. As the lone ambassador for the Canadian drifting sport he earned the friendship and the respect from the worlds best 32 drifters. His determination and his devoted team ensured that he could continue the competition after a pair of near eliminating crashes in his Infinity G35 Twin Turbo. In the end, Marco put Canada on the international drifting map. Watch for Marco’s uncanny humor, charismatic way and some serious smoke in the future.
